The Modern Lake House

Beauty, transparency, and simplicity are all on display in a new zen-inspired home designed by Richardson Smith Architects and built by Pinneo Construction on Lake Carnegie in Princeton, NJ.

Elegant and understated, the home’s front elevation only hints at what is to come on the back/lake side of the newly built house.
In twilight, the home’s transparency is revealed.
A lap pool and wading pool mimic the sky.
In daylight, glass and steel bring the outside in.
Living room with a view to the kitchen.
A modernist kitchen, bathed in light and free of any and all clutter.
A black metal staircase provides structural and visual contrast to the white walls and poured concrete construction.
Master bedroom with a view of Lake Carnegie.
The bathroom suite has a sunken tub which cantilevers out from the house.
The two pools balance the kitchen wing. The cantilevered bath can be seen in the upper right.
A mid-level view from the staircase notes the glass and steel construction, the two pools, and the home’s location on the shore of Lake Carnegie.

This amazing home was featured in the Spring 2021 issue of Princeton Magazine.
