Well loved and appreciated. He got his name from the book Dinotopia. Bix was the character who acted as a liaison between the shipwrecked humans and a flourishing society of dinosaurs. Our Bix was intensely social, an inspiration for the kids from art projects to Halloween costumes, a great kayaker, and a constant companion in my studio.

He was our liaison to unconditional love and nine years while long is wrenchingly short when the end comes.

Blog posts with Bix.

He was also a wonderful companion when my housemates were away. It was as though he was taking care of me at the same time he was checking for the sound and light from the car announcing their return home. When that happened, he dropped me like an old girlfriend who had outlived her attraction.
