One Balmy Night in Maine

We got back from Maine last Sunday, had the Labor Day holiday, and then hit the ground running. The kids started school on Tuesday and I got word of the need to do a client presentation on Friday morning.

The work would be multi-faceted, involving stills and video. In the way (so to speak) was the Rosh Hashanah holiday on Thursday – so I quickly edited two more videos, New Studio Part II, and One Balmy Night in Maine. Shown along with Changes Afoot, the idea was to convey the versatility and immediacy of video created via HDslr’s. The meeting went very well…

This was shot handheld, ISO 2500, and I used two lenses:  the 50mm f/1.2 and the 16-35 f/2.8 II. Most of the clips were with the 50. Editing was in Final Cut Pro and grading in Color. I added some film grain (as is the case with the other videos) so the raw clips are even smoother. Sound was recorded in the camera but with a very small hot shoe mounted shotgun mike to up the quality from the camera’s internal microphone.

Music is by the Flash! in the Pans community band which performs around the Blue Hill Peninsula.

June 06, 2014 – The Only Ones, a new film, added to the blog (but only just now edited.)  It was shot the same summer as One Balmy Night in Maine.

May 29, 2014 – One Balmy Night in Maine -> edit, sound and grading get a refresh.

March 18, 2012 – Maine Shimmer, a new Maine film.
